1. When is the surgery, what is the recovery time and what do the stages of recovery look like (crutches, how many weeks of PT etc)? This will help lay the ground work down.
Surgery is not set up yet, I get back into the doctors office this week in order to ” go over the results”. I will be keeping you guys in the loop when I get it squared away as well as give you the insights as far as recovery goes. It sounds like it will be fairly straight forward and will be doing PT very quickly after surgery.
2. What can you do still, and right after surgery, that will not set you back and help you progress. Start exploring exercises that don’t hurt now or 24 hrs later (that’s an important one). Of course most upper body stuff will be fine, floor pressing and most single joint arm, shoulder, and back exercises, but you might also find that there are some lower body exercises that you can do as well, albeit lightly, but you can still do them.
The real kicker about this particular knee issue is that as long as the tear lays flat and does not flip up in my knee, I am pretty damn stable and normal. I The majority of the problem comes from rooting hard into the ground with my feet. That rotation is the real motherfucker for me. I have noticed that as long as I can keep a vertical shin angle, then I can really do most things. Upper body is totally fine, Competition bench sucks do to the position of my knees while performing leg drive.
3. What are your goals now and moving forward? This may seem simple to answer with the immediate “get back to squating/deadlifting/where I was, as fast a possible” but that isn’t necessarily the most motivating thing to wrestle with mentally for 8-12-16 weeks. Find something that you can do and will motivate you right now that will keep you in the gym and moving, whether its a training partner, some stupid dumbbell challenge, or really anything.
The goals for moving forward are to continue to train and compete in my first powerlifting meet before switching back over to strongman. In terms of the short term ( during the pre-surgery/recovery/rehab) I am planning on cutting down body fat and really not eating like an asshole. I am merely shifting my focus from a contest/meet prep to more of a physique/bodyweight goal. Time to go to fuckin swole town kehd.

Thank you again for the feedback. I am taking note of everything and will be adding it into the next video to see the progress just like I did with this one. The one thing I am noticing is that my elbows are actually fully extended. I will show in the video this week of the crazy shit my elbows do. I think it is an illusion with my chunky forearms.
Feeling strong and looking forward to squatting in a few hours.
