I just received a message asking if I wanted to compete at the RPS bubblegum meet. It if February 7th. I said yes because it’s been forever since being on the platform. Since it’s so close how do I proceed with peaking?

I just realized it’s only 9 days away so it’s probably just take out easy next week. 2 more questions. should I switch back to conventional for deadlift? I’m thinking I want to because I’m more comfortable with it. 2nd- I was thinking of upping my calories to maintenance or maybe slightly over so I’m not in a deficit. Is that advisable switching so soon?

Well, this is not what we advise, but you only live once and competing is fun.

      So, do it!
You don’t have time to peak and you should deload, so let’s do that.

What is the date of the meet?

      It is Sunday February 7th
      402 Walcott St
      Pawtucket, RI 02860

Alex Omand sent me a message saying someone got injured and he had an opening and would only charge 50 since it’s short notice. I figured why not. Tomorrow I’ll work to my deadlift opener and will take it easy next week. I looked at an older block leading to a meet and Monday was something like 80 percent of opener for squat and bench and reverse hyper I believe

it’s only 30 lifters so it should be a quick day

Send me your current PR’s and I’ll help you with openers/attempts.

I already have a commitment that day so I can’t make it to the meet.

As far as training, I suggest deloading from this point on.
Train today or tomorrow, and Monday.

I’ll give you what to do after you send PR’s.

Taking into account the fact you are in a volume phase with lower percentages for the past few weeks, I suggest this:

      Today/Tomorrow
      Deadlift
      Warm-up sets, then
      80% x 1
      85% x 1
      87.5-90% x 1
Band Good mornings 2 sets x 12-15 reps
      R/H 2 sets x 15-20 reps

      Next Monday/Tuesday
      Squat
      3 sets x 3 reps 75%
      Bench Press
      3 sets x 3 reps 75%

      Back Raise + Pushups
      2 sets x 3-4 rep[s short of failure

      Rest of week:
Light sled drags or bike for recovery x 15-20 minutes
No training last 3 days before the meet.

      Attempts meet day:

      Squat
      Open: 485
      2nd: 515
      3rd: 545-550

      Bench
      Open: 275
      2nd: 295
      3rd: 310-315
      DL:
      Open: 440
      2nd: 470
      3rd: 500-505
      OR
      Sumo
      Open: 415
      2nd: 445
      3rd: 465-475

      thank you,
I’ll run with this. I was thinking really close to this for attempts. It’s nice to see I’m learning a little something these past few years.
