I have a torn rotator cuff, which was an overuse injury from competitive gymnastics. I feel that I may not ever be strong enough for powerlifting, so think the better option for me is TFL.

However, because of this injury, shoulder press and push-ups are extremely hard for me, due to the ligaments being destroyed. The big 3 lifts of powerlifting work better for me.

Which program should I choose. I want to get stronger and both programs sound great!

      You can choose either.
Don’t worry about being strong enough for Powerlifting.
IT’s about what YOU can do- and it is the most supportive sport I have ever seen.

IF you want to do TFL, you can substitute exercises that you are unable to do.
      EG:
Floor Press, bench press, or DB Over head Press instead of the Barbell Over Head Press.

I want powerlifting then! I’m most comfortable with those moves! I’m glad you said that. I know that if I work hard, I can do it. I’m looking up to Cheryl because she made a huge transition. Thanks for your advice, as always. I probably will throw in some or the TFL moves though.

I REALLY suggest following the programs as written.
The volume and intensity are calculated for best results.
But, you can do as you like.

Get to work, work hard and get the results!

Thank you!! Any chance there is an auto renew on the monthly membership?

TPSMethod.com monthly, and annual memberships renew automatically.
Monthly is a no commitment, month to month that renews each month.

Annual memberships renew once a year.

Your Founding Member rate is locked in for life with no price increase for the current membership level.
IF you cancel and the Founding member offer is no longer available, new registrations will be at the current price (at tie of new sign up).
This price guarantee will not apply if you wish to upgrade to any new, higher level memberships we offer in the future.

With either program though, fat loss is mostly a function of diet, though, right?

I would say that is mostly correct. Diet plays a huge role, more so than activity level for fat loss.
With that said the TFL program has many more conditioning circuits built in and over encourages a higher level of “fitness” (whatever that means). But you can get jacked doing either program as long as you are not lazy in the gym or in the kitchen.

Thanks for that info, Matt. I’m curious about the diet for Powerlifting. Protein vs. Fat (Keto or Keto-esque) vs. Carbs. Can you recommend percentages or a specific diet?

      Annette,

We are not allowed to give specific nutrition advice unless the person doing so is a certified nutritionist or dietician.

Some general tips are fine legally.

I am the only nutritionist on staff.

      General guides:
1 gram of protein per pound of body weight.
      eat healthy, natural foods-not processed
      for fat loss:
      8-12 calories per pound
      for maintenance
      12-15 calories per pound
      to gain
      15+

      These are VERY GENERAL numbers.

I’ve seen these. I wasn’t trying to get specific nutritional advice, was just curious about opinion. No worries.
