Doing the TPS Method Beginner program and yesterday was SSB Box Squats with Chains. It was our first time using chains for a squat. Went in thinking “Yeah I got this, probably pretty straightforward.” Well, let’s be clear – I most certainly did not get it.
I think I gave Murph a hemorrhoid by how Kelsie and I had set up the chains. It was a sad state of affairs before he came over and showed us the right way. First thing he asked – “Did you watch the video?”
I thought I knew what to do without really learning. Gotta share my progress here – whether that’s progressing in strength or progressing in mindset.
Lesson – Don’t be an asshole. Watch the videos and learn the movements. Don’t be arrogant and think I know what I clearly don’t know.

1st off:
I already had hemorrhoids.
Not really.Let’s go over this.
You are not arrogant or an asshole (that’s my job), you are actually highly coachable and that is what I was doing.
You are a fairly new lifter and are in the learning process.
We are here to help.
I saw an opportunity, and offered.
If you noticed, I don’t do that to many people.
Why?Because many are not open to it for some reason.
You are, and you are a member here at the gym and on the site and that is part of what we offer.
I also asked Sabra to help Kelsie because sometimes a different way of saying things gets through, and what she showed her got through right away.
Even though she is not a coach (she could be), she is a highly skilled and experienced lifter and judge who gives back to the sport all the time and her ability to see things in a lift is extraordinary.
Now, if you have been training with us for a year, two years then I probably would have blown a roid!
Keep doing what you are doing and don’t be afraid to ask for help with anything.
