Can’t decide between 230 and 235 for my opener. Both felt solid but I had a bit of a misgroove on the 3rd rep at 235.

A general rule for openers, is to open lighter than you think you need. So if it is a toss up between 230 and 235 I’d do 230 and just make a slightly larger jump for the 2nd/3rd attempts.

      What’s your prior PR?

Last PR I hit was 250

      OK.
Based off a prior PR of 250, if I were handling you I would do this:

      Open: 230
      2nd:245 (7% jump)
3rd: 255 (5% jump) or 260/265 (6-7% jump) depending on how you feel.

Always open with a weight you can SMASH.

Nice work! I agree with Murph. When is your meet? Also is this your first meet? Is your previous PR a gym PR? All good things to know before determining an opener.

Sounds like 230 is going to be my best bet. My meet is on Saturday November 30th. All my prior PRs are gym PRs. Thank you guys!

Sounds like a good plan. Good luck and smash all the weight!
