Not my best day. I felt lower back discomfort right above the butt from shoveling that morning. I normally would’ve just dropped the reps per set and done more sets to get everything in but I wanted to stick to the program and RPE

I’d suggest the lower back discomfort was exacerbated by not using your legs.
You are really pulling it mostly with your lower back.

Watch the Barbell Basics Deadlift course. It shows this exact issue.

Is it hips to high? I know I was not driving my legs like I normally do because of the back twang. Is it a combo of both? That is height my hips usually are but I can work on changing it

Brian, we have a chicken and egg situation. Did tweaking you back stop you from driving your legs or did not driving your legs tweak your back?
Either way it’d like to see more of a press with the legs off the floor than a pull with the back (and neck here) to start it. Think about pushing your feet through the floor in your start position.

I think i was only concentrating on le back discomfort and didn’t drive. I feel much better thus week and will pay more attention to driving the legs. You both are right though i didn’t do myself any favors lifting like this

On a side note the knurling on the elite bar is no joke. It’s more aggressive than the texas power bar
