I’m leaning more towards maybe 235 for my second attempt. I’m not sure I hit depth with 245. What do you guys think?

Nice work!! I agree with you on 235 for a second, it was smooth and there is more in the tank for you third for sure. Looks like you just lost some brace coming out of the hole on the third, still more in the tank for your third anyways. What did you hit at your last meet? And how long ago was the meet? I have always gone by the rule that you go for a 5lb PR on your second and then go for gold on the third, but depending on how long ago your last meet was changed things. I’ve done a 10lb PR for my athletes and myself, on my second attempt if it’s been a while since the last meet or if I was constantly killing all old percentages. When’s your meet? Looking forward to seeing you kill it.

I’m doing a mock meet this time around. I haven’t actually participated in my first meet yet but now that I’ve been lifting for a little bit I’m going to start looking more next year! Part of what’s been holding me back is I don’t really know anyone involved in the sport that knows a lot in my area and I’m a bit scared to go into a meet without a handler. The last time I tested my squat max it was at 235 but I was nowhere near depth so I feel good about it being the second attempt. Thanks for the feedback!

I see, that’s great then you’re already at a PR. Don’t worry too much about a handler, I did my first 4 meets without one, really only getting one because I was went into gear. I too didn’t know a single person in my area who PL or had done a meet, and I never really tested my max before a did one. That’s the really nice thing about the PL community, everyone is willing to help and everyone there has been in your position before or is also doing their first meet. You’re doing awesome, and we can always help figure out your numbers for the meeting when you’re ready.
