Hello, my name is Justin, I’m 44 with a wife and two sons and I’m happy to be here. I run a gym about an hour NW of Boston and as things have gotten busier and my kids have started to do more stuff afterschool, my own training has gone in the shitter over the last few years. Not proud of it but it is what is.

I’ve done 5-6 official meets (Vermont PL, RPS, and USAPL) and a few in-house ones and honestly, I am just much happier and more pleasant to be around when I am training for meets. It fits my personality, probably from a childhood watching Rocky and Vision Quest. Just something about it being you against the weight.

Signed up for a USAPL meet 12 weeks from now (after watching the intro video in the PL section) and then another one in April (had signed up for that a while ago). No idea what I can do now; last in-house in Sept 2015 was 430/285/600 at about 240 bw. Quite a bit heavier and weaker now that is for sure! So all we can do is go up.

      Thanks for putting this together!

      Justin,

I agree, I am a lit better when I have a goal to train for!

Thanks for joining and get started on the program.

Block 1A-2B are met prep blocks that fit well with your timeline!

Awesome that you’re on board man. Do you know which USAPL meet in April you have signed up for?
Just curious because I will be at one in April with one of my clients from the gym and would be glad to help you in the warm up room and on the platform.
Having a handler can make a huge difference on meet day.

Thanks guys! Matt, very cool of you to offer. It is in Clinton or Clinton Park, New York. April 13th I think.

        Justin,
Damn, we will be in Needham Heights on the 7th.
That would’ve been very cool, there are other meets though.

Oh wow…I tried to register for that one but couldn’t find a link anywhere. I actually grew up in Needham Heights so I would very much like that. I am going to look into it.

I have two kids, too, and it’s rough. I understand! Lifting is often erratic. 🙁
