Hi Murph- Ever since feb/march my deadlifts only seem to get weaker and weaker. attached are 2 videos; one from back then (indicated with the rubber plates) and one from today (metal plates in the garage.) today felt TERRIBLE for deadlifts and i am so frustrated with progress seemingly only going backwards, and my form feeling like absolute garbage today for my sets. What am i doing differently from the rubber plate lift video?

      Christopher,

Your form is not that bad.
It just needs a few tune-ups.

Let’s focus on one thing and fix it, then move on to the next in a few weeks.

The good thing is that you are attacking the deadlifts and being aggressive.
The bad thing is that you are not making your arms long.

That is a cue I stole from Goggins and it wraps up a bunch of other ones.
Watch the videos. You are talking the slack out, then pushing the bar down and ripping it up.

Next time you pull, focus on taking all of the slack out, make your arms long.
Flex at the the bar as if you are trying to pull your arms out of the sockets, and then ONLY MOVE UPOWARDS.

If you don’t understand, let me know.

What program are you following now?

      Thanks for the input.

So for pulling slack out of the bar/having long arms, does this mean my shoulders are sort of out and forward to get a big stretch? Should my shoulder blades be out and to the sides instead of clenching and touching each other in my upper back?

I believe I’m on week 3 of raw powerlifting block 1B.

      Watch this Course:

Your shoulders should not be squeezed together. The course gives you all the cues. Watch it and get back to me with questions.

“I believe I’m on week 3 of raw powerlifting block 1B.”
We don’t have a block by that name.
Can you reply with a link to the block you are on so I can look and see what is going on?
