Happy Tuesday, Method! Glad we’re finally on the other side of this heat wave…
Squat – 305×5 @ 8 (Programmed for 8): https://www.instagram.com/p/CgT6RtYubg1/ . Very pleased with how these have been recently. Depth in particular was awesome for this set
Bench – 215×3 @ 9 (Programmed for 9): https://www.instagram.com/p/CgZNZMtOp2L/ . My upper back has been utterly fried from using it more in bench, which I’m taking is a good sign. I also feel a lot more stable and have been noticing my arms shaking less during the unrack
Deadlift – 365×5 @ 7.5? 8? (Programmed for 7): https://www.instagram.com/p/CgeMcmxu0Gq/ . Crazy how keeping my spine neutral and looking straight ahead has helped these so much

Oh, followup question – my grip has been giving me trouble on deadlifts recently. What is your preferred grip accessory to bring that up to snuff?

Adrian,
Squats: Lots of progress here. Your form looks very good and you are judging the RPE well.
One suggestion, lower your hooks one hole. You can see that you have to get on your tiptoes to get it out of the rack.
One hole lower will allow you to wedge into he bar more and get it out without tiptoeing.Bench:
The actual bench looks pretty solid.
BUT:
I’d like to see you be more purposeful on the set up.
As you watch the video, you will see that you drive onto your neck at the start of the set up and then lift your back off the bench. This causes as loss in your upper back tightness.
Slow the set up down and do everything with purpose.Deadlifts:
Pretty good as well.
But:
Watch your butt as you lift.
It comes up slightly first, then you correct it.
You can get away with this at lower numbers but at higher percentages it will cause a fail.
Take all the slack out of the bar and your arms. Make your arms LONG!Good work as usual.
Keep it up. -
For your grip, static holds will work FAST.
Load a barbell up on pins in a power rack so that you only have to lift them about 3″.
Use a double overhand grip and load a weight that you can hold for 8-10 seconds.
If you can hold it for 10 seconds, add weight.
Do three sets per week for a few weeks, and do not use a weight that you cannot hold for less than 8 seconds.
Use a stopwatch.
