Hey Murph,
I signed up for a meet in late May. for the last three months I’ve been running a Barbell Medicine “hypertrophy” program focused on the bench, deadlift, squat – lifts at RPE 7/8/9 and increasing volume each week. Since doing this program, my lifts have gone up 20lbs each. Now at Bench 185, Squat 300, Deadlift 285. Also, I’m 47, 5’6″, and 160lbs. I tend to do some kind of a fitness class in the mornings in do barbell work in the evenings at home.
I’ve had the Sheiko app, and now that Im going to be doing this meet, I was thinking of doing the app workouts. So two questions, I know you have several programs on the site, 1. which one can I look at to train for a meet, over the next 8 weeks, and 2. When training for a meet, should the athlete just focus on powerlifting training, or can I continue my twice a day – class in the am and strength in the evenings.
Thanks!

I think I answered my own questions with reviewing and doing Block 1B and not overdoing it, working out too much each day, and focus my bodybuilding stuff on day 4. Im good with that!

1. Is this your first meet?
This will help me answer your question better.2. On training, I believe that you need to dedicate 100% of your energy to the meet.
All good programs are programmed to allow for proper recovery.
When you start adding in your own stuff, a new variable is thrown in and will probably affect you negatively.
I suggest running a meet prep program on it’s own.-
Hi Murph,
Yes, this is my first meet.
