So I read about hierarchy of Goals and have a question now. I’d really like to set the goal of deadlifting 300 pounds by the time the push pull rolls around.

Is adding 75 pounds to my deadlift in 17 weeks realistic, and if not could someone help me come up with a better number? I would even take 275 but I’d really like to pull 300.

      Thanks as always.

Sometimes beginners will see gains like that big that fast but I wouldn’t put the pressure on yourself to hit something that much more that close. Could it happen? Maybe, but I wouldn’t go all in on that.
You pulled 230 at your last test correct? I would say 250 by November would be much more realistic.
When it comes to lifting, it is always the long game, so we can’t get too greedy too fast.

Sounds good. I really didn’t know if that was reasonable so I’m glad I asked.

I say don’t have any lofty goals for the first meet.
Just go through the training cycle and run the RPE and numbers as written, and lift what you lift.

We will help you choose openers and we all will be here to help the day of the meet.

Your first meet is going to be stressful so we want to take as much out as we can.

Setting goals that are too high is a stress you don’t need.

And, adding 75 pounds to your deadlift in 17 weeks is a little lofty.

75 pound in a year is also a little lofty.

But, it’s good to have grand goals!

Lol I was not sure I was just trying to come up with a clearly defined goal and time frame but now I can do that a lot better. Thanks a lot as usual.
