So I’ve had a bit of a revelation as of late and I need the honest opinion of the coaches here. Is the Powerlifting program suitable for a someone who doesn’t necessarily have a desire to compete in a meet but, rather, train to become a stronger athlete for a different sport? Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing myself numbers go up in the S/B/D, but I’m just as excited to see that strength carry over to my BJJ training. I’m currently lifting 3x per week and training BJJ 3x per week and, honestly, I sometimes wish I had an extra 24 hrs of recovery especially after heavy sessions (RPE 9/10 days).

Do we think that the TFL program would be better suited for me? If so, should I just make the switch immediately or finish out the current block? The way I see it, it’ll still help me get stronger while also aiding in my mobility and conditioning – something that the Powerlifting program may not prioritize as much.

Would love to know everyone’s thoughts.

      Thanks.

      Joe,

The Powerlifting programs are designed to do one thing and one thing only:

Get you ready to compete on the platform.
Of course they build muscle and make you stronger, but they have a singular focus.

I think that TFL is a much better option for you.

If you like to bench, you can do that as a 4th day session.

      TFL addresses many components including:
      Strength
      Conditioning
      Mobility
      Muscle gain
      and more.
I’d finish your current block if you have the energy and use the maxes you set to move forward in TFL.
