I know most of the trainers at TPS really stress following the program as written. However what advice would you give to someone who trains in other athletic activities?

I train Brazilian jiu jitsu 2x per week and I’m usually pretty good sticking to the 3 main days of the TPS Powerlifting program (squat, bench, and DL days).

What advice would you give to someone who has trouble sneaking in that 4th day on a consistent basis? Sometimes I need an extra day to recover and sometimes life just gets in the way and, when that happens, it’s almost always Day 4 that gets cut.

I don’t want to forego my accessory and conditioning work. I had an idea about breaking out the Day 4 workout across the first 3 days. Is that ill-advised?

      Let me know.

      Joe,

This is an incredibly easy answer.

      What is your highest priority?

If it is to compete in Powerlifting, you need to serve that master.
If it is BJJ, you need to serve that master.

If you are powerlifting for the strength component it brings to BJJ, then get the 3 days done.

If you are powerlifting to do a meet, get the 4th day done and minimize the BJJ.

      Get it?
