Any tips for training when you don’t have access to your usual gym? I just came off Block 2A, Week 4 which is meant to mimic a powerlifting meet so, because of that, I’m following the program and taking a couple days off. However, I’m traveling to San Francisco for work next week and I don’t want to necessarily take 2 weeks off from the gym. For the days leading up to my trip, my plan was to train BJJ like I usually do 2x this week and try to squeeze in maybe a full-body accessory day. Is that a good idea or not?

Last time I traveled to San Fran for work, I ended up paying for day passes at local gyms because hotel gyms are next to useless. However since day passes in San Francisco gyms run up to $30/day, my bank account would rather not resort to that. My question is would training BJJ twice this week mixed with a full-body accessory day be enough to tide me over while I’m gone in SF next week? I want to be sure I’m fresh for when I get back into the program upon my return.

      Thanks!
      Joe

      Joe,

      Exactly where are you going?

I may be able to suggest a colleagues facility at a lower rate if I know someone there.

Get me the address and I’ll take a look.

      AND:

      On the travel part:

I always tell people that you have to do the best you can with what you have.

So if all you can do is BJJ and a full body once, then do it!

Get me the address and I’ll see if I can help with a gym.

I’m staying in downtown San Francisco for an all week conference. I’ll be staying at the Park Central Hotel in the Union Square area so if you know anyone that operates a gym that’s a reasonable distance via the BART or Lyft ride, I’m all ears.
