Hey gang,
So I’m the midst of block 2A of the TPS Method for Powerlifting block and I’m headed into week 4 – the week that’s supposed to mimic meet day. The problem is that my lifts between weeks 2 and 3 have been pretty inconsistent – especially my deadlift. For example, on DL day during week 2, I was supposed to do 3×2 @ RPE 10. I managed to pull 425×3 and I probably had a 4th in me (I realize I’m breaking the rules by going against the program). Considering DL is, by far, my weakest lift, I was feeling pretty good. Fast forward to the same day on week 3, and I was barely able to get 425 off the ground.
Now, admittedly, due to business travel, illness, and other things, I’ve had to modify my gym schedule a bit (doing heavy bench and deadlift days back to back after a 7 hour flight was probably ill-advised).
My question to the group is, if my numbers are that inconsistent going into a max out week, how should I approach my training for that week?
Thanks again!
Joe

1st: STICK TO THE PROGRAM!
2nd: Some days you eat the bear, some days the bear eats you.
We all have bead days.It is too hard to tell why as by your words, you are off the program.
However, things like this are pretty normal around test/meet time.
Don’t worry about it.I strongly suggest that you forget about the past and look forward.
What is done is done, you can’t change it.Go forward to test day like a fucking Viking.
Burn your boat.
Take some heads.
