Looking for feedback on back raises, I’m new to doing them. Am I coming up high enough? Thanks.

It’s hard to tell from the front angle.
      Maybe?

Next time can you shoot the video 45 degrees to the side?

Thanks, I’ll do that. I was having to prop my phone against equipment to get this video, next time I’ll have a stand for my phone.

Like Murph said, hard to say from this angle. But what I have a hunch about it that you might be extending too much.
If you notice how the movement starts and finishes with you pushing you head back and pulling your neck up chances are you are throwing the movement into your lower back. Then again it is hard to say for certain from this angle.
Think about where you should feel this: glutes and hamstrings. They should stretch at the bottom and flex at the top.
Did this give you a lower back pump that made you want to walk around like you had poop in your pants for a bit? Chances are you were using you lower back to lift yourself up.

I didn’t get that feeling, no, but I do think you might be right about the extension. I think I flexed a little at the top, but I did feel most of the movement in my butt and legs. Is that where it’s supposed to come from?

That’s good that you didn’t get that back pump, those are not fun. Yes you should feel it there mostly.

Oh good well I’m glad I managed to avoid something labeled “not fun”. Gotta do them again in a couple days so hopefully I can get a better angle.
