I’ve held off on starting a program for a while because of caring for someone in my family with an illness, but I’ve decided to jump into the Training for Life program. I’ve done powerlifting in the past, but feel that at this point, this is what I need (aside from a better diet, which I am working on).

Anyway, with burpees, having a lot of fat on me, getting up and down off the floor is a problem though I think doing things like burpees and Turkish getups can help with that.

Should I just do the best I can with regular burpees and work on getting better or could I scale them in some way (hands on a box or something) or do another exercise?

      NO!

      There is no magic exercise.

The best thing to do is something that you CAN do.
When we add in things like burpees, it is generally to get your moving, sweating and to get your heart rate up.
Feel free to choose an exercise that you can do well.
There are a lot of ideas in the Conditioning section of the video library.

Pick some that you can do.

And I do suggest sticking with the Turksh Get Up. Just do the best you can and go slow.

Be sure to watch the TGU instructional video as well.
